Trouble with the police

Hello all,

My son is severely autistic, and has a great deal of trouble controlling his temper. He lives in a house with three others, with permanent care workers on duty.

Recently he attacked one of the people who supports him. He hurt them quite badly, and I have heard that they may be involving the police.

Obviously I can't condone or excuse my son's actions, but I was wondering how likely it would be that a prosecution could go through? Or failing that, is it likely that he may be forced to have a different sort of support? Do people have any experience in these matters?

You may be competely honest with me.

Thank you all.
