Innisfail

The Wilf Ward Family Trust was founded in November 1986 to give relief to carers through the provision of residential respite units and day facilities. Our work began when our founding Trustees Wilf and Phyllis Ward established Isabella Court in Pickering as a Short Break service for people with disabilities. Since then The Trust has grown and offers a range of services to children and young people with disabilities, adults with disabilities and older people.

About Innisfail

Innisfail is a Wilf Ward Family Trust Supported Living scheme in Walkington, on the outskirts of Beverley, East Yorkshire. Innisfail is a beautiful bungalow set back from the road and with a large garden to all sides. It has views over the countryside and on a clear day you can see the Humber Bridge. The garden is mainly lawned with a gazebo, seating area and shed. The bungalow is divided into two flats which both have two bedrooms, a bathroom and a lounge/ dining area. The bathrooms both have baths which rise and fall. Each flat has its own front door access. There are flat screen televisions in the lounge areas along with comfy sofas, dining table and chairs. There is a communal kitchen, laundry and lobby area. The current vacant bedroom is in flat one and has a ceiling track hoist. It has a front view and is light and airy. Currently three ladies live at Innisfail. They are aged between 46-56 years but they are all young at heart and would have no preference to a fourth tenant being male or female. Only one of the ladies has any verbal communication but this is limited. They all make their needs known in their own way. They all enjoy trips out whether this is shopping or days out to the seaside or countryside. Although the bungalow is situated on the edge of the village, the ladies often walk into the village especially to see the duckpond.Beverley is only five minutes drive away and Hull only fifteen minutes away. The tenants often go there to access the cinema, bowling, leisure activities. The tenants enjoy social occasions and friends and relatives visit regularly. The tenants have staff supporting them 24 hours a day. During the day there is one member of staff to each tenant and at night there is two staff available to assist the tenants as needed.
