Isabella Court

Isabella court is a short breaks service on the outskirts of Pickering. Pickering is a busy market town widely known as “the gateway to the moors” and is within easy travelling distance of York, Scarborough and Teesside. Local attractions include Flamingo Land theme park and zoo, the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway, seaside towns of Whitby and Scarborough, the City of York and its museums, countryside walks in Dalby forest, petting zoos and farms. Isabella court was opened in 1989 by Wilf and Phyllis Ward and marked the beginning of the Wilf Ward Family Trust. Purpose built with a large garden and recently refurbished, Isabella Court offers eight bedrooms, several with en-suite facilities and all are decorated and furnished to a high standard with TV, DVD and music facilities. We have a large open plan lounge and dining area, along with a separate kitchen, sensory room and activity room. One of our eight bedrooms is part of a self contained annex which has its own facilities and is ideal for both those who wish to be more independent or individuals with challenging behaviour. Several of our bedrooms have overhead tracking and three of our five bathrooms are fully assisted. We offer a tailor made holiday package to meet individual requirements, including person centred activities and enhanced staffing needs. With our two wheelchair accessible vehicles and excellent transport links we are out more often than we are in! We also offer a wide range of indoor activities for the days when the weather or personal choice keeps us in. These include a touch screen computer, music sessions, pool, baking and arts and crafts. We are currently developing an enchanted adventure garden - this promises to provide an exciting sensory experience for guests who use the garden, and includes a wheelchair adaptable swing, sensory plants and lots of exciting things to discover and interact with.
