About Shine Therapy
At Shine Therapy we are able to offer advice, ongoing support and parent/carer training when introducing and implementing alternative or augmentative methods of communication including the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), sign supported English (Sing-along) , LAMP ( Language Acquisition through Motor Planning) and promoting Total Communication environments.
All of our therapists have extensive experience of working with young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorders and complex learning needs and specialise in the delivery of sensory integration and evidence based communication therapy. The two lead therapists for the ASD and Challenging behavior Service are Laura Hatton, highly specialist Speech & Language Therapist with over 10 years experience working with children and young people with complex learning difficulties and challenging behavior, and Lisa Hamer who is a specialist Occupational Therapist, Advanced Practitioner in Sensory Integration, Advanced Practitioner in the Assessment and Treatment of Sensory Defensiveness, and Advanced practitioner in Therapeutic Listening.
We provide a flexible, individual, and personalised approach for all therapy services. We are aware that it can be tricky juggling different professionals and services which is why we believe in fostering good communication with our local NHS colleagues. We aim to promote harmonious working relationships across the public and private healthcare sectors and seek to share our knowledge and skills in searching for the best way to help you gain the most from our intervention.
We pride ourselves in tailoring healthcare to fit around you. Our sessions are fun and relaxed and appointments for an initial consultation can be arranged within the week. Some of our follow-up services include:
- Regular individual therapy appointments
- Advice and review appointments
- School and nursery visits
- Detailed assessment reports
- Training for parents and professionals
