Smooth Starts Plus is an Independent Therapy Service led by Clinical Psychologists and Occupational Therapists. Specialising in supporting individuals aged 0-25, and their families. We offer Clinical Psychology and Occupational Therapy services and co-ordinate support from associate professionals including Speech & Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Vocational Coaches.

About Smooth Starts Plus

Smooth Starts Plus is an Independent Therapy Service. Led by Clinical Psychologists and Occupational Therapists with experience in the fields of Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Global Developmental Delay, Attachment Difficulties, Family Support and Vocational Rehabilitation. Specialising in supporting individuals and families, aged 0-25, who are experiencing emotional and/or behavioural difficulties Smooth Starts Plus provides Clinical Psychology and Occupational Therapy Services as well as co-ordinating support from additional associate professionals including Speech & Language Therapy and Physiotherapy. From a Therapy Centre based on extensive farmland between Cardiff and Newport in South Wales, Smooth Starts Plus provides Diagnostic Services, Assessments and Individualised Intervention Programmes. Groups, Workshops, Activity Programmes, Consultancy, Training and Out-Reach Support is also provided. Services Offered: ASSESSMENT • Diagnostic Assessments for Autistic Spectrum Conditions • Assessment of Learning Disability • Attachment Difficulties • Comprehensive Occupational Therapy Assessments • Adaptive Functioning • Behavioural Difficulties • Emotional/Mental Health Issues • Life Skills /Activities of Daily Living • Vocational Skills • Community Skills • Handwriting & Seating Assessments PSYCHOLOGICAL INTERVENTIONS Individual/Group programmes facilitated by experienced Clinical Psychologists. Interventions are individualised and draw upon CBT, Behavioural Theories and Attachment Theory. Areas of intervention include: • Behavioural Difficulties • Emotional Problems • Attachment Issues • Relationship Issues • Anxiety • Sleep Difficulties • Phobias Support Groups • Sibling Support Group • Small Group Structured Activities including Sensory Circuits, Fishing, Music & Art LIFE SKILLS & VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION Individuals can attend a range of independence building programmes both on a one to one basis and within small groups. Including: • Relaxation & Anger Management • Social Skills • Sensory Circuits • Relationships & Sexuality • Meal Preparation • Community Skills Tailor Made Vocational Programmes for Individuals aged 14+ including practical opportunities such as: • Horticulture • Animal Care • Woodwork • Catering Skills
